Polokwane City will look to bounce back from a weekend defeat in the Absa Premiership when they host Stellenbosch at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday 2 October 2019, kick-off at 19h30.
Polokwane suffered their second league loss of 2019/20 when they were beaten 2-0 at Highlands Park on Sunday, September 29. Rise and Shine have claimed six points from a possible nine in three home matches so far this season.
Stellenbosch are still seeking out their first win of the 2019/20 season after they held Golden Arrows 2-2 away from home on Saturday, September 28: Stellies came from 0-2 down to salvage a share of the spoils, thanks to goals from Iqraam Rayners and Ryan Moon.
In head-to-head terms, this will be the first top-flight meeting of Polokwane City and Stellenbosch. However, when the latter team was still known as Vasco Da Gama, the clubs met in two league games in the second tier (2012/13): the Cape side won both matches (4-1 at home and 2-0 away).
