Yet another player has thrown his international future behind Nigeria as Glasgow Rangers forward Sheyi Ojo says he wants to turn his back on England and play for the Super Eagles.

Oyo, 22, is on loan at Rangers from Liverpool and was part of the England squad that lifted the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2017. But having seen teammate Joe Aribo successfully debut for Nigeria, he wants to follow suit.

“I have made it known that I am willing to switch allegiance to Nigeria,” he told reporters.

“I will be glad if I am called up because just like Joe Aribo, I also want to play for Nigeria at senior level.

“It’s up to the coaches to decide on picking up in the squad and in the meantime, all I have to do is to keep doing my best at Rangers and hope I get noticed.”

Ojo has been at Liverpool since the age of 14 and has made 13 appearances for the club, but spent much of the last few years out on loan at the likes of Wolves, Wigan Athletic, Fulham and French side Reims.
