Edouard Mendy has been forced to withdraw from Senegal’s high-profile friendly international with Brazil in Singapore on October 10 after picking up a knee injury.
The goalkeeper was injured playing for Rennes in their 2-1 loss to Italian side Lazio in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
“It is an injury that will handicap him for a little while,” Rennes coach Julien Stephen said. “It is possible that he will be out for the first few matches after the international break, but it is too early to day.
The French-born Mendy has been solid for Rennes this season having arrived from Reims.
He started two games for Senegal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2-0 win over Tanzania and the 1-0 group stage loss to Algeria.
