Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha has denied claims that he spat at Declan Rice during Crystal Palace’s 2-1 English Premier League win over West Ham United on Saturday.
Jordan Ayew was on the scoresheet for the Eagles as they came from behind to beat the Hammers at London Stadium.
Footage posted on social media appeared to show Zaha spitting in the direction of West Ham United midfielder Rice during the clash, but the Palace winger has acted swiftly in denying those claims.
He said: “Let me clear something that the West Ham fans are trying to make up.
“On your own video, you can see that Declan runs in front of me and I spit to the right.
“So please don’t make up lies that I spat at someone. I have never done it and I never will.
“So please, let’s just accept that we won the game and move on,” Zaha is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
The 26-year-old has registered just one assist in nine appearances across all competitions this season, having failed in his attempt to force a move away from Selhurst Park before the start of the current campaign.
