Friday Oct 11, 2019. 16:00 takes a look at three key battles that could decide Sunday’s international friendly match between Brazil and Nigeria at Singapore National Stadium.

The Super Eagles have been rocked by injuries in build up to the clash with Kenneth Omeruo, Ola Aina, Samuel Kalu and Peter Etebo all ruled out of the match in Kallang.

Brazil and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations runners-up, Senegal, played to a 1-1 draw at the same venue earlier this week. Something that will encourage Nigeria as they aim to go one better than their fellow West Africans.

Three Key Battles:

Victor Osimhen vs Marquinhos & Thiago Silva

In a battle straight out of the French Ligue 1, Lille forward Osimhen will be hoping to get one over the Paris Saint-Germain duo. The Nigerian forward has netted an incredible seven goals in his first nine games for Lille, but will have his work cut out against the experienced centre-back pair if he is to continue his scoring spree.

Wilfred Ndidi vs Casemiro

The midfield battle will be an intriguing one with two in from hard-men to come to blows in Singapore. Ndidi has been key to Leicester City’s strong start to the season while Casemiro continues to form an integral part of Real Madrid’s setup. Against two exciting attacking unites, the duo will play a key role in assisting their respective defences in the final third, while also igniting attacking opportunities for those in front of them.

Abdullahi Shehu vs Neymar

Ola Aina’s injury could see Shehu occupy the right-back spot and if he does, the Turkey-based defender will have the tough task of keeping Neymar at arms length. The Brazilian attacker has returned to form for PSG and having contributed directly to 102 goals in 100 appearances for Seleção, he seemingly reserves his best performances for the five-time World Cup winners.
