The Comoros Islands handed Guinea’s new coach Didier Six a shock defeat in his first game in charge as they won Saturday’s friendly international in Versailles, outside Paris.

El Fardou Ben Mohamed, who has been competing in the UEFA Champions League with Serbian club Red Star Belgrade, scored the game’s only goal in the 67th minute.

It was a morale-booster for Comoros who were bundled out of World Cup qualification last month by Togo over two legs in their preliminary round and must now face the same team again next month at the start of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Togo will host them in Lome on Thursday over 14.

Guinea begin their 2021 Cup of Nations qualification campaign in Group A against Mali the same day.

The former French international Six took over from Paul Put as Guinea coach last month.

They play Chile next in Alicante, Spain on Tuesday in another friendly international.
