The West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A elected Antonio Souare as its new president.

The Guinean football administrator was elected at the extraordinary general assembly in the Senegalese capital, Dakar on Saturday.

Souare, who is also the Guinea Federation Federation (FEGUIFOOT) president, was the only candidate.

He replaced Augustin Senghor, who had served for the last eight years.

“President Augustin Senghor has made it easy for us because he cleared the field for us,” Souare on the CAF website.

“We do not have to throw away the work he has done during his tenure because that will be the wrong way to go.”

Liberian Mustapha Radji and Mamoutou Toure of Mali are the vice presidents.
