Mozambique delivered themselves a morale-boosting away win as they edged hosts Kenya 1-0 in Nairobi on Sunday one month away from the kick off of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

A superb solo goal in the 68th minute from Amancio Canhembe settled the outcome as he capitalised on a series of defensive blunders by the Harambee Stars to slot home a loose ball from inside the box.

Canhembe has yet to make his senior debut at club level for Portuguese club Vitoria Setubal but did his chances no harm with the killer blow.

Kenya paid the cost for a wasteful performance at the Moi International Sports Centre, with lead attacker Micheal Olunga the major culprit. He missed three clear-cut chances in the opening half.

Mozambique begin their 2021 Cup of Nations qualifiers with a home game against Rwanda on November 16 in Group F.

Kenya are in Group G where they start away in Egypt on November 15.
