Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is facing a long spell on the sidelines after rupturing ligaments in his knee.
The Super Eagles shot-stopper had to be stretchered off during Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Brazil in Singapore last week and his club side, Omonia Nicosia, have now revealed the extent of the 20-year-old’s injury injury.
“Francis Uzoho has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus,” the Cypriot club said in a statement.
Uzoho took to social media to thank everyone for the messages of support, writing on Twitter: “A big thank you to you all. I will be be back stronger and better IN CHRIST ALONE.”
The shot-stopper is currently on-loan at Nikosia from Spanish club Deportivo de La Coruña.
He started all five of the club’s league games this season, keeping three clean sheets.
In total, he has racked up 16 caps for Nigeria since making his debut in November 2017.
