Mamelodi Sundowns will take on regular continental adversaries Wydad Casablanca in the group stages of the 2019-20 Caf Champions League.
The two clubs have met regularly over the past few seasons and will do so once more in home and away fixtures over the next few months.
The two clubs were drawn in Group C alongside Algeria’s USM Alger and Angolan giants Petro du Luanda.
Sundowns have come up second best against the Moroccan club over the last two years, losing to Wydad in the 2017 quarterfinals before suffering an aggregate loss to the same opponents in last season’s semifinals.
Mosimane, who led the Brazilians to continental glory in 2016, is looking forward to meeting the North Africans once more in a clash between two clubs who have developed a friendly relationship.
“I can’t complain about the Wydad draw‚” Mosimane said.
“It’s either you play Wydad‚ Al Ahly‚ Esperance [de Tunis] or TP Mazembe. So whichever one you get is part of it. If you want to win the tournament‚ you must get those guys.”
“We fought too much‚ but competitively. And we became friends and we became a family.
“I’m even afraid that this thing is going to lose the spark. Because now we are hugging each other and all those things‚ you know – when we are supposed to be fighting.
“But it’s good‚ we hug each other – that’s nice. It’s good for football.”
He continued: “When it comes to playing Wydad, maybe this time we will go to Casablanca because they always take us to Rabat. Our family members are tired of seeing us play that match. We are improving when we go there, always losing 1-0.
“The last time we lost 2-1, but at least we scored, we needed one goal to reach the final. So that means they are not comfortable when they play us.”
