The Confederations of African Football (Caf) has announced that experienced referee Alioum Alioum will officiate Zamalek’s Caf Champions League clash against Generation Foot this week.
The two teams will meet in a CafCL playoff in Cairo on Thursday with the aggregate winner to book their place in the group stages where they will join Primeiro de Agosto, TP Mazembe and Zesco United in Group A.
Generation Foot beat Zamalek 2-1 in the first leg, with the reverse fixture initially scheduled to take place on the 28th of September at the PetroSport Stadium.
Zamalek, though, informed their Senegalese opponents at the 11th hour that they had changed the venue of the game to Borg El-Arab stadium in Alexandria the next day due to reported security issues.
This angered Generation Foot who chose not to participate in the second leg fixture. The issue was brought forward in front of Caf, who duly decided that the replay would take place this week in the Egyptian capital at the visitors request.
Alioum is an experienced match official, having taken charge of both the opening game and final at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Egypt.
Furthermore, KingFut.com reports that the White Knights will welcome back the services of Omar Al Said, Abdallah Gomaa and Mohamed Abdelghany this week, with the trio having all recovered from injury.
