Zamalek sneaked into the 2019/20 CAF Champions League group stage on Thursday night.

The Egyptian giants secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Senegalese side Generation Foot in the first round second-leg clash.

The hosts opened the scoring just 17 minutes into the encounter which was played at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.

Mostafa Mohamed was the man, who broke the deadlock for the five-time Champions League winners.

The score was 1-0 to Zamalek during the half-time break.

The White Knights continued to attack after the restart and they were awarded a penalty just after the hour-mark.

Mohamed Alaa then stepped up and hit the crossbar from the spot-kick as the visitors survived a scare.

Generation Foot then stood firm at the back and ultimately, Zamalek emerged 1-0 winners on the night.

As a result, the tie ended in a 2-2 stalemate and Zamalek won on the away goals rule.

Zamalek will join Angolan champions C.D Primeiro de Agosto, DR Congolese giants TP Mazembe and Zambian side Zesco United in Group A.

While Generation Foot will lock horns with Adjobi FC of Benin in the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup play-off round.
