Former Angolan international Lito Vidigal, who is coach of Portuguese top flight club Boavista, has been handed a 15-day suspension by the Portuguese Football Federation after being sent off in a cup game.
Vidigal, the most experienced African manager in European club football, was expelled in the defeat against Chaves in the third round of the Portuguese Cup.
Vidigal was found guilty of challenging “the decisions of the referee team by gesturing, arms in the air and saying, ‘you only see one way’,” the report said. The severity was the sentence followed previous similar offences.
He was also fined 5,610 euros.
He now sits in the stands for three successive matches but will be back for next month’s derby against FC Porto.
