Enyimba and Asante Kotoko were both in action in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup play-off round on Sunday.
Nigerian giants Enyimba recorded a 2-0 win over South African outfit TS Galaxy at home, while Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko’s clash with Ivorian side San Pedro was called off due to heavy rains.
Enyimba’s local rivals Enugu Rangers registered a 2-1 defeat to Togolese side ASC Kara away and Madagascar’s Fosa Juniors caused an upset when they stunned Moroccan side RS Berkane 2-0 at home.
Meanwhile, Kenyan giants Gor Mahia drew 0-0 with DR Congolese outfit Motema Pembe at home, while Moroccan club Hassania Agadir secured a 1-1 draw with Zambian side Green Eagles away.
Egypt’s Al Masry recorded an impressive 4-0 away win against Seychelles’ Cote d’Or and Ugandan outfit KCCA drew 0-0 with Algerian club Paradou at home.
While former South African champions Bidvest Wits edged out Mozambican outfit UD Songo 2-1 away and Tanzanian giants Young Africans were beaten 2-1 at home by Egyptian club Pyramids.
Guinean giants Horoya AC defeated Kenya’s Bandari 4-2 at home, while Malian club Djoliba secured a 1-0 victory over Gabonese side Elect Sport away.
Zambian giants Zanaco also registered an away win as they thrashed Cano Sport 3-1 in Equatorial Guinea and Libya’s Al Nasr played to a 2-2 draw with Ugandan club Proline at home.
Lastly, Zimbabwean club Triangle suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mauritanian side Nouadhibou away.
The second-leg encounters are scheduled to be played on the weekend of November 1-3 and the winners on aggregate will advance to the group stage.
