Egypt coach Shawky Gharib has named his final 21-man squad for the 2019 Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations, but is without injured Al Ahly midfielder Mohamed Mahmoud.
Mahmoud has suffered another bad knee injury, having only just recovered from a similar problem, and misses out on the tournament that Egypt will host from November 8-22.
The Ahly trio of Akram Tawfik, Ahmed Yasser Rayan and Mahmoud El-Gazzar have made the cut, but there is no place for Ismaily midfielder Mohamed Sadek, who is a surprise exclusion.
The Egyptian Football Association have suspended the league while the tournament is being played, which means Gharib was able to have his pick of locally-based stars.
Egypt start their Group A campaign Mali on November 8, before a clash with Ghana three days later. They round out their pool play against Cameroon on November 14.
