Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns remain on course to meet in the 2019 Telkom Knockout final following the Brazilians penalty shoot-out win over Chippa United at Nelson Bay Stadium on Sunday.
Pitso Mosimane’s men beat the Chilli Boys 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra-time with both William Twala and Lehlogonolo Masalesa coming up short from the spot for the hosts in Port Elizabeth.
Augustine Kwem and Silas Maziya handed Chippa the lead on two separate occasions in regulation time, but Gaston Sirino bagged a brace to send the game into extra-time and ultimately penalties where the capital club would prevail.
Sundowns will next face Golden Arrows for a place in the final while Chiefs will play host to Maritzburg United.
For Arrows and Maritzburg, the chance of an all KwaZulu-Natal showdown remains while most of South Africa will be licking their lips at a chance of Chiefs and Sundowns going toe-to-toe in the tournament showpiece.
