Bidvest Wits will chase a fifth successive win in the Absa Premiership when they host SuperSport United at Bidvest Stadium on Friday 8 November 2019, kick-off at 20h00.
Wits were last in league action more than a month ago, recording a fourth straight win (and a fifth from six Premiership outings) when they defeated Chippa 1-0 away on October 1. Defender Buhle Mkhwanazi scored a late winner for the Clever Boys.
SuperSport, by contrast, were in league action as recently as Tuesday, November 5, when they were held 0-0 at Mbombela Stadium by Golden Arrows – a third straight draw. United have claimed five points from as many away matches this season.
In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Wits have met in 54 league matches since 1990. The Clever Boys have claimed 18 wins compared to 17 for Matsatsantsa, while 19 matches have been drawn. The Johannesburg team has claimed nine wins in 27 home league matches in the rivalry, suffering eight defeats in the process.
Last season SuperSport took four points off Wits, winning 1-0 in Johannesburg in August 2018, before the teams played out a 1-1 draw in the return game in Tshwane in April 2019 with goals from Clayton Daniels and Sifiso Hlanti.
