Polokwane City and Baroka FC will both hope the inspiration of playing in a Limpopo derby inspires them to victory in an Absa Premiership clash at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday 9 November 2019, kick-off at 19h30.

Polokwane suffered a fourth straight league loss when they succumbed 5-3 at Cape Town City on Wednesday, November 6, though forward Charlton Mashumba at least grabbed a consolation hat-trick. Rise and Shine have taken six points from four home matches this season.

Baroka have gone five league matches without a win, though they at least held champions Mamelodi Sundowns 0-0 at home on Wednesday, November 6. Bakgaga have taken six points from four away matches this season.

In head-to-head stats, Polokwane and Baroka have met in six league matches since 2016/17. Four of the games have ended in draws, while Rise and Shine have claimed the only two wins in the rivalry. Both of those victories arrived last season, with Polokwane claiming a league ‘double’ over their provincial rivals: Rise and Shine won 2-0 at home in August 2018 and 3-1 away win March 2019.

Polokwane’s line-up from their 5-3 loss to CT City on November 6: Chigova, Nkili, Mbonani, Motloung (Chauke 23’), Buthelezi, Manaka, Mngomezulu (W. Maluleke 58’), Phiri, J. Maluleke, Mashumba, Booi (Nku 46’).

Baroka’s line-up from their 0-0 draw with Sundowns on November 6: Chipezeze, Farmer, Mosele (Madondo 75′), Kgoetyane, Shozi, Ngubane, Kambala, Nxumalo (Nsimba 90+3′), Mbulu, Phiri, Patjie (Mongae 61′).
