Zouma gets call-up from CAR for Afcon qualifiers

The brother of Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has received his first international call-up … for the Central African Republic.

The 26-year-old Lionel Zouma turns out for Oman side Dhofar and like his more famous brother, is a central defender.

Born in Lyon, France, Zouma’s parents are immigrants from CAR making all of their sons eligible to play for the country, though Kurt is a full France international.

A third brother, Yoan, made his debut for English League One side Bolton Wanderers this season and is also a defender.

Lionel has been called up by new CAR coach Francois Zahoui, who has been seeking to refresh the side for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they host Burundi on Wednesday before a trip to Mauritania on November 19.
