Mamelodi Sundowns’ winless run in the Absa Premiership stretched to three matches as they suffered a 3-2 loss away to Golden Arrows on a rainy afternoon at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont on Sunday.

The Brazilians held a narrow 1-0 lead at the break thanks to a goal from Thapelo Morena, but the hosts rallied in the second half to move within a point of the defending league champions.

Danny Phiri sparked the comeback thanks to an error from Denis Onyango who dropped the midfielder’s tame shot into the back of his own net.

Knox Mutizwa then netted a quick-fire brace to take his goal tally for the season up to seven before Andile Jali netted a late consolation for the visitors who remain 10 points behind league leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

In the only other game on the day, Black Leopards beat Cape Town City 2-1 to move up to 11th place on the log standings. Robert Ng’ambi scored the opener at Thohyandou Stadium before Bradley Ralani levelled matters in the Limpopo province.

Lesedi Kapinga, though, would secure all three points for the hosts with a late goal as the Citizens fell to a third loss in four games to remain but a single point above the relegation zone.
