A stunning strike from Teboho Mokoena gave South Africa victory over Ivory Coast, while Nigeria edged Zambia at the 2019 Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt on Tuesday.
Mokoena’s 35-yard free-kick 10 minutes from time handed South Africa a deserved win after they had dominated much of the game but proven wasteful in front of goal.
They move to fur points in the pool, followed by Nigeria and Ivory Coast, who have three each, and Zambia on one.
South Africa and Nigeria will clash in the final pool matches on Friday, while the Ivorians meet Zambia.
Nigeria had to come from behind for their victory after Zambia forward Patson Daka had put his side in front early.
But Orji Okwonkwo equalised just four minutes later and Kelechi Nwakali had Nigeria in front with another superb free-kick, before Taiwo Awonyi added the third in injury-time.
