Tunisia got their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying campaign off to the perfect start with a 4-1 thumping of Libya at Stade Olympique de Radès on Friday evening.

Saif-Eddine Khaoui and Wahbi Khazri scored a brace apiece for the Eagles of Carthage, who lost to Nigeria in the bronze medal match at the 2019 Afcon in Egypt.

Their Group J rivals Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea were also in action, with the hosts mounting a late comeback to conjure a 2-1 win in Dar es Salaam.

It was a frustrating night for the pair of Morocco and Zimbabwe who were held to goalless draw by Mauritania and Botswana respectively.

The Atlas Lions dominated their clash in Rabat, but were unable to find the back of the net as their poor recent form continued, while it was a disappointing first competitive outing for head coach Vahid Halilhodžić.

Boasting stars like Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona, Zimbabwe were expected to make a strong start to their campaign in a group that also includes Algeria and Zambia, but it was not to be as they came up blunt in Harare.

Full list of results:

Tanzania 2-1 Equatorial Guinea

Zimbabwe 0-0 Botswana

Morocco 0-0 Mauritania

Tunisia 4-1 Libya
