Liverpool FC central defender Joel Matip says he does not care about the cameras when he is on the field of play.

The former Cameroon international has established himself as one of the best defenders in the English Premier League (EPL).

Matip, who is currently nursing an injury, opened up when speaking on the club’s official website.

“If I’m on the field, I don’t care about the TV, about the cameras,” Matip said.

“It’s like when I’m on the field, I’m only focused on the ball and I don’t care about how my face looks.

The towering defender went on to admit that when he scores he feels a lot of emotions.

“If I score, I don’t know what I’m doing, to be honest. It’s just like emotions come out and I’m just happy,” he added.

Matip, 28, has scored twice for the Reds this season and one of his goals came in the 2019 FA Community Shield against Manchester City.
