Zambia have brought in two of their star names from the ousted Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations squad to bolster the team ahead of their home 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

Chipolopolo were thumped 5-0 by African champions Algeria in the opening match of their qualification campaign and can ill-afford to drop points at home to The Warriors.

Coach Aggrey Chiyangi has called on the Austria-based duo of striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu after the Under-23 side exited their continental championship in the first round on Friday.

Mwepu has called on the team to remain united and for fans to rally behind the side.

“It is quite hard for the team after losing the first game. The scoreline was really not so good for everybody. Going in the second match, I can only wish the team to stay positive and focussed knowing that the Tuesday game won’t be easy,” he told reporters.

“We are together in this situation. Whether we win or lose we are together but I am positive that we will win Tuesday’s match.”

Zimbabwe also had a disappointing start to their campaign after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Botswana in Harare on Friday.
