Uganda notched up their first win of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a 2-0 home success over Malawi at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Sunday.
The victory leaves The Cranes top of Group B with four points, the same number as Burkina Faso, who were 2-1 away winners over South Sudan in their second match.
Malawi have three points and South Sudan have yet to break their duck.
Malawi started brightly on Sunday and might have been ahead had striker Richard Mbulu not fluffed an excellent opportunity when he was unmarked in the box.
But the home side took the lead just before the half-hour mark as Emmanuel Okwi found himself one-on-one with Malawi goalkeeper Brighton Munthali and slotted home.
Uganda almost doubled their advantage moments later when Faruku Miya crashed his shot against the crossbar, but they did go 2-0 up on 67 minutes.
Bato Aziz poinced on some hesitant defending and provided a neat finish, much to the delight of the home fans.
