Reports in Zimbabwe suggest interim national team coach Joey Antipas has resigned, despite leading the side to a 2-1 victory over Zambia in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Lusaka on Tuesday.

The Warriors have had a tough time since the last Nations Cup finals in Egypt, squeezing into the group stages of the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and enduring a barrage of criticism in the wake of a 0-0 home draw with Botswana last Friday.

Antipas’ appointment was always meant to be temporary, though he might have secretly hoped that a good run of form would get him the job fulltime.

He has remained on charge of club side Chicken Inn throughout his tenure and will now focus on trying to help them win the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League title.

Chicken Inn are two points behind leaders CAPS United with three rounds of matches remaining.
