Mamelodi Sundowns are set to welcome Gaston Sirino back to the starting eleven for this weekend’s Telkom Knockout clash against Golden Arrows.
The Brazilians will be aiming to reach their first TKO final in four years, having beaten Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 in the 2015 showpiece. As was the case on that day, the final of this season’s tournament will be hosted at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Sirino missed the club’s two most recent league games with a knee injury, but the Uruguayan, who has scored seven goals in 14 games this season, is likely to start at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.
Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi, though, has confirmed that Themba Zwane is still unavailable due to a hamstring injury.
“We have really missed them a lot because they are very important to our team‚” said Mngqithi.
“We have missed Mshishi (Themba Zwane)‚ in particular‚ because he dictates the tempo of the game and he gives that sense of dominance when opponents comes at us.
“We really miss a player like that‚ that’s why we have him because we know he is important.
“He is not going to make it to this match‚ but the good news is that Gaston is back in full training and he has done very well. We believe he (Sirino) will be able to make the squad for the match against Arrows.”
