Former African champions Etoile du Sahel have appointed Juan Carlos Garrido as their new head coach.
The Spanish tactician has signed a deal with the Tunisian giants till June 2021, as a replacement for Faouzi Benzarti.
“I’m glad to be working with Etoile du Sahel. The club has a great history and a big fanbase,” Garrido told the media.
“The way this team plays and the passion that drives its players is the main reason I’m here.
“My main objective is the CAF Champions League title, and it’s the same for the players,” he continued.
“This is not an easy group we are facing so we don’t have to underestimate any teams.
“However, we are aware that we are amongst the best teams so we want to start the CAF Champions League journey on a positive note.”
Garrido’s Etoile will face Egyptian giants Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League match on 29 November in Sousse.
The 50-year-old mentor has coached Belgian giants Club Brugge and Spanish side Villarreal.
