After making a bright start to the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Comoros Islands are looking to beef up their squad and renew efforts to persuade three Ligue 1 players to play for them.

French reports on Friday said French junior international Myziane Maolida, who plays at Nice, Toulouse striker Wesley Said and St-Etienne midfielder Zaydou Youssouf were being courted by the Indian Ocean island, who last week beat Togo and then held Egypt to a draw to amass four out of six points in the qualifying group for the 2021 finals.

Maolida signed with Nice last year on a five-year contract with a reported release clause of about €100 million. Lyon received a transfer fee of €10-million plus 30% from future transfer profits.

The three players are French-born but also have Comoran nationality and are being seen as a massive potential bonus as the Comoros seek to qualify for the finals for the first time.
