Senegal got their 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup campaign back on track with a handsome victory on Sunday, but a second successive loss for Nigeria means they are out of the competition.
Senegal defeated Belarus 7-2 in their Group C encounter as they recovered from a narrow loss to Russia in their opener.
The team’s victory was built on four goals from Mamour Diagne in the final period as Senegal now take aim at the knockout rounds with all four teams in the pool on three points going into the final round of matches.
They head their pool on goal-difference and will fancy their chances against United Arab Emirates in their final clash on Tuesday.
Nigeria needed a miracle but were beaten 6-5 by Oman in their second match after a humiliating 10-1 defeat to Portugal in their opener.
They now meet group favourites Brazil on Tuesday, but cannot win a place in the quarterfinals.
