Mamelodi Sundowns star Gaston Sirino could miss the Telkom Knockout final next month.
The Brazilians will face Maritzburg United in the cup showpiece at Moses Mabhida Stadium on the 14th of December.
Sirino was sent off during Sundowns 2-1 semi-final win over Golden Arrows at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.
It was the second time this year that Sirino received his marching orders from referee Victor Gomes, having been dismissed by the very same match official in a league game at Maritzburg United late last season.
Sirino’s on-field discipline has marred his stay in South Africa and with a red card suspension looming, the 28-year-old will face the PSL Disciplinary Committee later this week on charges of unsportsmanlike behaviour during the club’s MTN8 clash versus SuperSport United earlier this season.
This could all lead to a extended suspension for Sirino, but he could already be suspended for the TKO final – even before judgement is delivered – if Sundowns league match against Stellenbosch FC set for the 11th of December is postponed to allow the club time to prepare for the final.
A mandatory two-match suspension follows a sending off and with Sundowns likely only be involved in one domestic match before the final, Sirino will watch the showpiece from the stands.
