Maritzburg look to extend unbeaten run

Maritzburg United will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership when they host SuperSport United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday 27 November 2019, kick-off at 19h30.

Maritzburg have gone five games without a loss in the league (picking up 11 points from a possible 15 in the process) after they held Bloemfontein Celtic 2-2 at home on November 8, with a last-gasp goal from Judas Moseamedi. The Team of Choice has taken eight points from five home matches in 2019/20.

SuperSport broke a three-game winless streak when they defeated Bidvest Wits 1-0 away in Johannesburg on November 8, with a late goal from Sipho Mbule. Matsatsantsa have taken eight points from six away matches this season.

In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and SuperSport have met in 26 league matches since 2005/06. Matsatsantsa have claimed 14 wins compared to just three for the Team of Choice, while nine matches have been drawn. The KwaZulu-Natal club has won one home match against their Tshwane counterparts, with five draws and seven losses from 12 turns as hosts.

Last season the two league meetings between these teams both produced home wins: SuperSport triumphed 1-0 at Mbombela Stadium in December 2018, while the return game at Harry Gwala Stadium in May 2019 saw Maritzburg claim a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Mohau Mokate and Judas Moseamedi (two).
