Africa’s interest at the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is over after Senegal slumped to a 4-2 loss to Portugal in their quarterfinal on Thursday.
The African champions led early, but were over-powered by one of their pre-tournament favourites.
Senegal defender Mamadou Sylla put his side in front with a thunderous finish, but Jordan replied with a volley to level for Portugal.
An own goal by Lansana Diassy, a tap-in from Le Martins and a free-kick from Be Martins opened up a 4-1 lead for the European team. Raoul Mendy scored a late consolation for Senegal.
