SuperSport United have moved up to second place on the Absa Premiership log, with their draw at home to Stellenbosch the headline result of four games across South Africa’s top flight on Saturday 30 November.
Matsatsantsa were held 1-1 by Stellies at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with their goal from Kudakwashe Mahachi cancelled out by Waseem Isaacs. The result saw the Tshwane team leapfrog their local rivals Mamelodi Sundowns into second spot (on goal difference), though they are a full 10 points adrift of leaders Kaizer Chiefs (who have played a game less). Stellenbosch, meanwhile, remain in 14th spot – just two points and two places above the bottom of the log.
The day’s action began in the Limpopo province, where Polokwane City suffered a seventh straight league defeat by going down 1-0 at home to Bloemfontein Celtic – Victor Letsoalo scored the decisive goal for Phunya Sele Sele in the afternoon clash.
The early-evening games saw Cape Town City’s stuttering season continue as they were held 0-0 at the Cape Town Stadium by Highlands Park, while Black Leopards came from a goal down to defeat Golden Arrows 2-1 in Thohoyandou, thanks to goals from Lesedi Kapinga and Themba Ndlovu.
The weekend’s action rounds up with two matches on Saturday afternoon: Chippa United v Baroka FC and a provincial derby between AmaZulu and Maritzburg United.
