Ivory Coast club San Pedro will look to make the most of home advantage when they welcome Algeria’s Paradou AC for a Group D clash in the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday evening.

The match is slated to kick-off at 18:00 CAT at the Stade Auguste Denise in San Pedro.

San Pedro have qualified for the group stage of a CAF club competition for the first time in their history. The Elephants overcame Guinea’s Santoba (3-0 on aggregate) and Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko (2-1 on aggregate) to go one step further than they managed in last season’s Confederation Cup.

The Ivorian club comes into the clash in solid form, having claimed three wins in four domestic league matches since overcoming Kotoko in early November, with their latest outing a 1-0 away win over Abengourou last weekend.

Paradou, who have only returned to top-flight football in Algeria in the past couple of years, have made an impressive rise to prominence and will be looking to make a major impression in what is their second group stage appearance in the competition.

PAC ousted Guinea’s CI Kamsar (3-1 on aggregate), former Confed Cup champions CS Sfaxien of Tunisia (3-1 on aggregate) and Uganda’s KCCA (4-1 on aggregate) to earn their place in Group D alongside San Pedro, Morocco’s Hassania Agadir and Nigerian heavyweights Enyimba.

Coach Francisco Chalo’s team have stuttered in their last couple of Algerian Ligue 1 matches – losing 2-0 to CA Bordj and drawing 1-1 with ES Setif – but they will still back themselves to claim a positive result in their trip to West Africa.

The match in San Pedro will be handled by Burundi referee Pacifique Ndabihawenimana. The other Group D game will be played later the same day in Morocco and sees hosts Hassania Agadir welcome Enyimba to the Stade Al Inbiaate.
