Pyramids coach Sebastien Desabre says his side have plans to go all the way in the CAF Confederation Cup after they opened their group campaign with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Nigerian side Enugu Rangers.
The way victory is a vital three points for the Egyptian club in a competition where wins on the road are like goal.
They did fall a goal behind after Ibrahim Olawoyin netted for the Nigerians, but the sending-off of Tope Olusesi on the stroke of halftime for a second bookable offense turned the game in Pyramids’ favour.
They netted second-half goals via penalties from Mohamed Farouk and Islam Issa, and another strike by Amor Layouni.
“It’s an important victory and it should lift the spirits of the players,” Desabre said.
“The sending off along with the changes we made in the second half was the reason we successfully turned around the game and scored three goals.
“I hope we continue playing like this because we have aspirations of winning the title.”
Pyramids are next in action at home to Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou, while Rangers travel to Egypt to face Al-Masry.
