The CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup group stage match-day one action produced some interesting results.

1. Egyptian Clubs Impress In CCC
It was a good weekend for Egyptian clubs in the Confederation Cup as Pyramids and Al Masry recorded away victories.
Pyramids thrashed Nigerian giants Enugu Rangers 3-1, while their local rivals Al Masry secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over Mauritanian side Nouadhibou.
2. Tunisian Giants Off To Great Start
Etoile and their local rivals Esperance de Tunis started their Champions League group stage campaigns with impressive victories.
Esperance, who are the defending champions, brushed aside Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca 2-0 away, while Etoile stunned record eight-time winners Al Ahly of Egypt 1-0 at home.
3. Nigerian Clubs Struggle
Nigerian are one of the top footballing countries in the African continent, but their clubs have struggled in continental tournaments in recent years.
Enyimba succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Moroccan side Hassania Agadir away, while Rangers were beaten by Pyramids at home.
4. Reality Check For Zamalek
Egyptian football powerhouse Zamalek came into their Champions League clash with TP Mazembe of DR Congo brimming with confidence having won last season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
However, the White Knights were humbled by the Ravens, who secured an emphatic 3-0 home victory in a battle between the two former African champions.
5. Esperance Send A Clear Message
All eyes were on the North African Derby between three-time Champions League winners Raja Casablanca and four-time champions Esperance this past weekend.
Esperance sent a clear message to their continental rivals by recording an impressive 2-0 victory over Raja away as they started their title defence with a win.
