Former Al Ahly and TP Mazembe head coach Patrice Carteron is favourite to replace Milutin Sredojević at Zamalek.
Micho, as he is affectionally referred to, has reportedly parted company with the Egyptian club a mere 137 days after taking up the reins in Cairo.
Sredojević has been under immense pressure over the last few weeks, with a defeat to lowly ENPPI followed by a 3-0 loss away to Mazembe in the club’s opening group stage game of the 2019=20 CAF Champions League.
While results have not been forthcoming as late, there is reportedly more to the former Uganda head coach’s departure from the five-time African champions.
A reported wage dispute has added fuel to the fire as Micho becomes the latest coach to be at loggerheads with controversial club president Mortada Mansour.
The former Orlando Pirates head coach becomes the 16th manager to be axed by Mansour in the last five years.
In total, Micho won seven of his 12 games in charge of the club, drawing one and losing the other four.
