After scoring in Al Ahly’s 2-1 win over Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League earlier this weekend, forward Hussein El-Shahat says the Egyptian club is targeting more glory in the continental competition.
The Red Devils took on the Sudanese side on Friday night and were chasing a first win in the group stage following their defeat to Etoile du Sahel last weekend.
Ahly secured the victory and three vital points thanks to goals from El-Shahat and Ramadan Sobhi in the 15th and 37th minute respectively.
After the game, El-Shahat said that the win is more important than his goal and expressed his side’s desire to lift the trophy.
“The win is more important than my goal, we played the Hilal game with one goal in mind, which was winning,” El-Shahat told Beinsports TV channel, as quoted by KingFut.
“Our goal from the beginning was to play some very attacking football and always threat[en] our opponent’s goal, especially that we were playing at home.
“We want to become champions, especially that we haven’t won the title in years,” he concluded.
Ahly have won a record eight Champions League titles, though their last triumph arrived back in 2013.
