It took Austin Amutu only five minutes to score against his Nigerian compatriots and set the foundation for Egypt’s Al Masry to go on and record a second win in Group A of the African Confederation Cup as they beat Enugu Rangers 4-2 on Sunday.

The journeyman striker, whose career has taken in stops in Israel, Malaysia, Tunisia and Turkey, was set up by Libya international Muftah Taktak as Masry stormed into the lead at the Suez Stadium.

Ahmed Yasser added a second before the half hour mark and Masry were 3-0 up just after half-time when Taktak added his name to the scoresheet.

Hassan Ali’s 84th minute goal added to the rout but Rangers got two late consolation goals through Eziekwe Chinoso and Chidera Ezeh in the last four minutes of the game.

Al Masry also had the Nigerian midfielder Emeka Eze in their starting line-up. He has previously played in Cameroon, Finland and Turkey.

The home win in Port Said adds to last week’s triumph away at Mauritania rookie AS Nouadhibou in the opening game of the group and sets up a derby clash in the third round against fellow Egyptian Pyramids FC on December 29.
