Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed the “sensational” goal by Mo Salah in their crucial UEFA Champions League victory over Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday that sealed a second spot for The Reds.
Liverpool needed to draw to advance to the next stage, but claimed a 2-0 success that was not without its nervy moments against a very attacking Salzburg side,
Salah had missed three simple chances before he did finally score their second, netting from an acute angle with arguably his hardest chance of the night.
“It was for sure the most difficult situation he had tonight,” Klopp said.
“He played really well but didn’t score in the situations we expect him to score, staying on track and making such a decisive, but a difficult, finish says probably much more about him than all the other goals he scored.
“He stayed concentrated, believed in the next moment and it was a very good goal. A sensational finish.”
Senegal striker Sadio Mane and Guinea midfielder Naby Keita also started for the Merseyside club.
