Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ Soliman says he has returned ‘home’ after signing for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, a comment that is unlikely to go down with rival supporters of Zamalek.
Kahraba, 25, joined on a free transfer from Spanish LaLiga side CD Aves and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.
He came through the youth ranks at Ahly, but did not play for the first team before moving to ENPPI and later Zamalek, where he spent three years.
“Good people always win in the end. The real victory for me is returning to my home, Al Ahly,” Kahraba said.
He formed a formidable partnership with fellow Egypt international Trézéguet in the youth team at Ahly, which is where he got his nickname, Kahraba, which means electricity.
He has had a journeyman career to date that has also seen him have loan spells in Switzerland with Luzern and Grasshopper, and in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad.
