South African Premier Soccer League side AmaZulu have confirmed they have parted ways with Zimbabwe international Ovidy Karuru with immediate effect.
The club made the announcement on their website on Saturday, without offering any reasons for the 30-year-old’s sudden departure.
“AmaZulu FC and Zimbabwean international attacking midfielder, Ovidy Karuru have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of his contract with immediate effect,” a statement said.
“We thank Ovidy for his time with us and wish him all the best in his career,” Usuthu general manager Lunga Sokhela added.
Karuru joined AmaZulu midway through the 2016/17 season while the club was campaigning in the National First Division.
He had failed to make an impact at Kaizer Chiefs in the previous two campaigns, but found a new lease on life in Durban.
Karuru made 72 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals. His last game was the 0-0 draw with Maritzburg United on December 1.
