Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita all started Liverpool’s 1-0 2019 FIFA Club World Cup final win over Flamengo in Qatar on Saturday evening.

After finding the back of the net for the Reds in their semi-final win over Monterrey, Keita handed the spotlight over to his African compatriots with Mane teeing up Roberto Firmino’s winner in the ninth minute of extra-time in Doha.

Salah, though, made sure his name goes down in history with the Egypt international rewarded with the Golden Ball award for two eye-catching performances.

Victory sealed a trio of European titles this calendar year for the Merseyside club who qualified for the tournament with victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League final hosted in Madrid.

Liverpool also beat another English Premier League club, Chelsea, to clinch UEFA Super Cup glory in Istanbul, thanks in large to a brace from Mane.

The African trio have played an integral part in Liverpool’s success over the last six months and attacking duo, Mane and Salah, are favourites to win the African Player of the Year award in January.

The duo finished fourth and fifth respectively at the 2019 Ballon d’Or in what has been and promises to continue being a golden era for the African continent.
