Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that the Brazilians will be spending Christmas Day in Algiers.
The 2016 Caf Champions League champions jet off to the Algerian capital on Monday in preparation for their 2019-20 group stage clash against USM Alger next weekend.
Sibusiso Vilakazi scored an 86th minute winner for the Tshwane giants in a hard fought 1-0 victory over Polokwane City at Loftus Stadium on Saturday.
Victory moves the defending Absa Premiership champions to within six points of league leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
The game in Algiers will come amidst a hectic schedule for Sundowns who are set to play six games in January before facing the Amakhosi in a crunch league clash on the 1st of February.
Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane confirmed following his club’s win on Saturday that the team will try and do something with the South African embassy in Algeria on Christmas Day.
“We leave on Monday, we’ll try to have a Christmas with the boys in Algiers so we don’t know how we going to do it,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.
“We probably going to do it with the embassy to give ourselves something. But what a game. I’m happy they [the players] had the legs. I thought they won’t have the legs after the Wits game [on Tuesday, a 1-1 draw].
“But they have got the heart also and the character. You saw Wits against Cape Town City. It’s all in the mind, it’s all in the character,” he concluded.
