Chiefs drop points as AmaZulu stun Celtic

The 2019/20 South African Absa Premiership match-day 15 action concluded on Sunday afternoon.

Two matches were played on the day with AmaZulu FC recording a victory against Bloemfontein Celtic

AmaZulu came back to defeat Celtic 2-1 in an entertaining match which took place at the Dr Molemela Stadium.

Siphelele Luthuli opened the scoring to make it 1-0 to Celtic, but Bonginkosi Ntuli restored parity for AmaZulu in the first-half.

The winning goal was netted by Butholezwe Ncube in the second half and AmaZulu ran out 2-1 winners on the day.

The win left AmaZulu placed 12th in the league table, while Celtic have remained ninth on the log.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Maritzburg United in a match which was played at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

Chiefs broke the deadlock through Lebogang Manyama, but Judas Moseamedi leveled matters in the first-half.

Ultimately, the game ended in a 1-1 draw as the two teams were unable to grab the winning goal after the restart.

As a result, Chiefs finished the year at the top of the league standings, while Maritzburg remained eighth on the table.
