Everton legend Duncan Ferguson has praised Nigeria international Alex Iwobi following their recent clash with Arsenal.
The attacking midfielder decided to stay on the pitch after picking up a hamstring injury in the early stages of their 0-0 draw with the Gunners in an English Premier League match on Saturday.
Ferguson, who has been serving as Everton’s interim manager, lauded Iwobi for showing character by staying on the pitch.
“It’s a hamstring. It shows you the character of the man,” Ferguson told Everton TV.
“He pulls his hamstring and he stays on the pitch. So we all know it’s a hamstring and he stays on.”
Iwobi has been a regular for the Toffees since he joined the team from Arsenal four months ago.
The playmaker has featured in 20 matches this season and hit the back of the net twice.
Ferguson has since been replaced by Everton’s new permanent manager Carlo Ancelotti.
