Wydad Casablanca will be confident of a three-point haul when they host Petro de Luanda in a Group C CAF Champions League clash at Stade Mohamed V on Saturday 28 December 2019, kick-off at 21h00 CAT.

Wydad have made a solid but unspectacular start to the group stage, drawing 1-1 away to USM Alger before being held 0-0 at home by South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns last time out. The results leave them tied for second on two points with USMA, two adrift of leaders ‘Downs.

WAC come into the clash on a low note, having suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to local derby rivals Raja Casablanca in Morocco’s Botola Pro last Sunday, and they will be under pressure to get back to winning form in front of their home fans.

Petro, meanwhile, have taken just one point from two matches in Group C. They were first brushed aside 3-0 in South Africa by Sundowns, before playing out a 1-1 draw at home to USMA earlier this month. The Angolans are placed at the bottom of the log, but could climb quickly with a couple of positive results.

Os Tricolores were last in action on Wednesday 18 December, picking up a second straight win (1-0 away to Academica do Lobito) in Angola’s Girabola to ensure they come into the clash with Wydad having rebuilt their confidence.

In head-to-head terms, this will be the first clash between Wydad and Petro, with the teams set to meet again in Luanda two weeks later. Group C’s other clash this weekend takes place earlier the same day in Blida, with USMA hosting Sundowns. Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe will take charge of the match in Casablanca.
