Egyptian giants Al Ahly will be heavy favourites to continue their dominant recent performances when they host Zimbabwe side FC Platinum in the CAF Champions League Group B clash in Cairo on Saturday.

Ahly have seen an upturn in fortunes under Swiss coach Rene Weiler and incredibly have won 14 of their last 15 games, the only blemish in that time a 1-0 reversal at the hands of Etoile du Sahel in their Group B opener.

What is clear is that it is all or nothing for Ahly, they have drawn only one of their last 30 matches in all competitions and that suggests they will ‘go for it’ when they host an FC Platinum side who have lost their first two Group B games.

The Zimbabweans were recently crowned league champions in their country again though, some come into this game with some confidence.

“We are happy that we won the domestic league but now we have since shifted focus to the African Champions League. We are not reading much into the losses in our first two games we are going there to win,” striker Mkhokheli Dube was quoted by KingFut.com.

Defender Kelvin Madzongwe added the side was ready to “grind” out a result and reignite their quarterfinal hopes.

“Playing in these championships is not easy and especially coming from the two losses we now know what we need to do, we have been working so hard so that we grind a better result in Cairo,” said Madzongwe.

Ahly have got security approval to allow some 10,000 into the game.
