Al Ahly head coach Rene Weiler says his side has been unlucky with injuries in recent times.
This comes after the Egyptian giants defeated Zimbabwean side FC Platinum 2-0 in the CAF Champions League clash over the weekend.
Key players such as Saad Samir and Junior Ajayi are currently nursing injuries and Swiss tactician Weiler has opened up their current situation.
“The match was difficult for us after 15 minutes due to various injuries, but we achieved the main goal of the match by achieving the victory we had targeted and gained three points,” Weiler told King Fut.
“Saad’s injury is more difficult than Ajayi, especially because his recovery was not complete, and we feared for Ajayi after he felt knee pain.”
“I do not see a lot of injuries in the team, but it is the result of misfortune, it is very natural and I see it as well, and I did not get the opportunity to go through the preparation period with the team at the beginning of the season where I came late.”
Weiler went on to reflect on Al Ahly’s second win in the Champions League Group B with Walid Soliman scoring both goals.
“I don’t care who scores goals, the most important thing for me is to work collectively and I don’t care about the name of the goal scorer,” Weiler added.
“Penalties are done through the three players who have been agreed upon, and this is done through their readiness in the stadium.
“I have good players and am able to make up for any loss and I am not worried in the upcoming games of the many injuries. There is no problem with the Zimbabwean weather and the temperature will help us make a good match there.”
Al Ahly will be in action in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday when they face Misr El Makassa.
